Spring has srung - Let's take the workouts outdoor

Spring has sprung birds a chirping and days are longer. Just the season we've all been waiting for here in SA. How about dropping all those excuses you had in winter ... ahhhh but its cold.... ahhhh but its dark.... ahhhh but I don't have a gym membership... ahhhh ahhhhh ahhhhh. 

Guess what!!!  Its lighter outside and you can get your training on out outdoors because you don't have to be scared of the cold anymore (not that it ever killed anyone). The good news is that you can do it with or without a gym membership (I swear you can :-)  

Take a jog around your neighbourhood, run to the park and use the benches for your push ups, dips and much more. Don't forget about this very well kept secret (NOT) called Functional training because you don't need equipment for that.

My running shoes

I’ve always looked at my stiletto collection with pride and admiration. This morning was a little different. 

I went out running – my usual 10km training route. This is one the toughest routes, very hilly and taxing. I often find myself thinking of all kinds of running motivational quotes I’ve read just to get through the hills. When I eventually got home after a very demanding run I saw my running shoes a little different because they carried me the entire 10km. I realised that without my running shoes I will not be able to look my best and rock my stilettos the way I do.

So it is official, I LOVE my running shoes. If my house caught fire I would rescue my sneakers first because together with a healthy diet my shoes keep me a happy size 6.

Food Smart

It’s so easy to eat whatever is presented to you, sleep in and never workout. That’s okay if you never wanna look like this lady. I don’t think she got that hot body from munching on that burger. I will bet my bottom dollar that she is food smart. She makes the right food choices because she understands that what she puts in her mouth will determine how she looks and feels. 

I chose to be food smart! How about you?

100% committed gets you the results

I made a commitment to myself that for as long as I live I will strive to be the best me I can be. This was guided by how I felt at the time I made that decision. I quickly learned that in order for me to get to the place I wanted to get to I would have to make the right decisions every time and not rely on how I felt. Sometimes feelings give birth to the dream but commitment gets us the results. 

Some of us want to look and dress a certain way but we are not prepared to consistently make the kinds of decisions that will help us give birth to our dreams.  Your level of commitment will determine your results.  Let us consistently make time for that workout, chose to eat well and avoid junk food even when we don’t feel like it. 

There is a cost for greatness, are you prepared to pay the price?

Before and After

Spring is finally here and I thought this would be the perfect  opportunity and time to share the evidence of my determination and never say die spirit. You know what they say... the proof is in the pudding.

So my dear friends I’m happy to say that my winter weight is gone and I’m back on my usual journey of being healthy 365 days every year.

The journey continues for all of us and for those of you who haven’t started it’s not too late. Today is the opportunity for you to make the choice to be the person you want to be! It’s a journey that starts with that decision and 100 other decisions that will bring you closer to a better version of YOU.
