Losing winter weight continued

I loved the number I saw on my scale this morning. With only 5 days to go before spring I am really excited with the progress I’ve made in this journey thus far. I lost an additional 1.1kg, which leaves me with only 1.3kg to lose in 5 days. I realise that I may not lose 1.3kg in the next 5 days and I’m okay with that – this is a journey. I will deal the remainder in the first week of spring.  
To celebrate I tried something different for breakfast this morning - egg muffin with some cherry tomatoes. The presentation wasn’t the best but it tasted absolutely great!

Crash diets give temporary results

We are now officially on single digits counting down to spring - 8 days to go. I know the pressure is on for me and a few of my friends. 

While we chasing our goals, let’s avoid crash dieting because it is not sustainable. You will lose the weight only to put it back on again.

 Make changes in your eating habits and exercise routines but make sure they are sustainable. Find a workout regime that you enjoy so that it doesn’t feel like a workout or find a friend to workout with you – that way it feels like a time out with your friend as opposed to a workout. 

When it comes to food, try eating half the portion size of carb-rich food i.e. pasta, rice, potatoes, bread, etc. Cutting them out of your diet completely is just not sustainable.
It’s better to lose weight at a slower pace and keep it off than dropping the kilograms fast only to have them come back again.

Losing winter weight continued

I’ve been nursing flu for the past 3 days and I’m hoping that today is the last day because I really want to go back to my training programme. I must say though that I woke up feeling a lot lighter than I did last week Monday and the scale confirmed it - I’m 1.1kg lighter. All the work I’ve put in the past week or so is paying off. 

I’m starting yet another week – with just 12 days to go before spring and 2.4kg to lose before the 1st of September. This week should be a lot easier than last week because I don’t have shoots or off-site meetings that could possibly de-rail me. 

I plan to run 4 times this week, 10km each session, attend two Insane workout classes and do some strength training while I continue chewing on all things fat free, sugar free and lean. 

Giving up is not an option!

Overcoming food temptation

Today is one of those days that could throw one off. I’m at a shoot all day and there is food and snacks everywhere and I go straight to class from here with no decent dinner. As we all know the food sold at school is not the healthiest. 

I started my day well with a 60 minute run and had jungle oats with fat free milk for breakfast. I plan to keep it together today with all my challenges. I’ve got a goal to achieve and I’m not about to compromise because of all these delicious biscuits, chocolates, sweets and cakes. I will settle for some black rooiboss tea thank you very much!

I need to fit into my jeans

I had a breakfast meeting with a friend this morning so I decided to wear one of my favourite pair of jeans but they were uncomfortably tight. Needless to say, I was totally devastated! I love tight jeans and all but not to the extent that it feels like I can’t breathe. The truth is I can’t afford a new wardrobe and I actually love my clothes, so I have to get rid of this winter weight – FAST. So I’m going to go back to the tried and tested method that got me dropping 3 dress sizes about 3 years ago. So here it goes: 

I vow to keep my grocery shopping healthy – no unhealthy food in the house
I vow to pack a healthy lunch box with snacks to work
I vow to drink more water
I vow to eat more fruit and vegetables
I vow to watch my portion sizes
I vow to limit snacking after dinner – if I must keep it to a piece of fruit or vegetable
I vow to keep it lean, fat free and sugar free
I vow to stop drinking alcohol for the next 3 weeks
I vow to stay disciplined

For the times I feel I really need a snack other than fruit and vegetable there is Woolworths. Thank goodness for their Slimmer’s choice range!

I need to lose weight

My fellow South African friends, the countdown has officially begun! There is exactly 3 weeks to go before we welcome the spring season – only 21 days! WoopWhoop!  

To tell the truth this health nut has also put on some winter weight - all 3.5 kg of it and I want it off in 21 days! One of the lessons I learned from my weight loss journey is that writing down everything helps – it keeps you honest. So instead of just a normal food list and counting calories I will be writing about everything I’ll be doing in the next 3 weeks to get rid of the extra unwanted weight. 

See, my childhood friend is getting married in Botswana on the 8th of September so I must look my best – you just never know this could be where I meet my prince charming.
